I’ll be completely honest, Maurice wasn’t who I thought I needed as a counselor at first. He was quick to identify things about the way “I am,” and at those times they felt inaccurate. But a little patience and a few sessions later it became obvious that he never stops learning, and he’s quick to revise his assumptions as he goes along. Maurice has become a good friend to lean on when I need to. He doesn’t push me to talk about heavy stuff when I don’t want to; he’s just as willing to gossip about random things going on in the world. Even then, something about him tells me he’s still doing the most to learn about me as a person. And when the heavy stuff does come up, he quickly switches to be there for me. And in those moments all that listening he’s done helps him know how to be there in just the right ways. As much as he saves me from the depths of my own mind, he is great at also giving me actionable things to do on my own to care for myself when he’s not around. Thank you Maurice.

Hello, I am Angelo Maurice Covington (Maurice), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina. I studied at Appalachian State University (North Carolina) and at the University of Iowa. Living in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Iowa has provided me a chance to live around a variety of individuals in different cultural environments around the country. Therefore, my therapeutic approach is varied and open to people from all walks of life. My main focus is helping you find ways to be your main support.

I normally provide a mix of Person-centered therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I feel that it is best to allow you the opportunity to tell your story in an open environment with guidance on developing coping strategies or setting goals that will be effective and useful for your personal growth.

When I am not providing assistance and therapy to the individuals I serve, I enjoy reading books (suspense, crime, biographies), riding bikes, and spending time with my family.

If you are ready to tell your story, find errors in your thinking, and set on your path of healing, I am the person for you. I am excited to have the opportunity to assist you along this journey.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
