More about Shannon

  • 7 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMHC

I have had seven years of counseling experience working with children, adolescents and adults in individual, group and family sessions utilizing evidence-based practices. I have also provided faith-based services for clients wanting to integrate their Christian faith into their counseling. I completed my Masters of Arts in Counseling at Western Seminary, in Portland, Oregon, where I received Bible and Theology courses in addition to my counseling courses, as well as specialized courses in how to integrate faith into a counseling setting. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Central Washington University.

I have received training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy Plus, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy along with many workshops and trainings for continuing education with depression, anxiety and trauma. I have an additional special interest in early life and family of origin, and how these early experiences and relationships can affect us throughout our lives-- the modality I often use in exploring this is Schema Therapy.

I would be honored to walk alongside you and support you in your life.

Thank you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

I’m really happy that I have Shannon in my life! I was worried getting matched online as I’ve only done therapy before in person. She’s respectful, validating, and really supportive. She genuinely cares about people and it shows

Reviewed September 2021

She is lovely. She offers support and encouragement when needed. Is insightful and helpful in brainstorming as well. No pressure in any of the “assignments” given. Knowledgeable and just seems to know the right thing to say at the right time.

I haven't been at it long, but I'm already grateful to Shannon for her affirmation and insight. I have felt a difference in myself already as I've processed and understood my feelings better. She asks great questions that have been super helpful! I've loved my experience with her so far.

Reviewed March 2021

She is great. My children already notice a difference in me. :)

Reviewed March 2021

Shannon has such a kind way about her - I instantly felt like I could be honest with her. I also appreciated the insight that she offered. She was able to change my perspective on my situation in one session.

Reviewed February 2021

I've only talked to Shannon a few times but I feel like she actually listens to me and is giving me feedback that will actually help me. The last person I spoke to, only seemed to sit there and take in my one-woman show and laugh at my stories, and not really give me much to work with. It could be the format of BetterHelp, but I honestly do like Shannon and hope she will continue to help me better myself.
