ABOUT ME

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a trained Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

with 28 years of clinical experience. First licensed in the State of New York and now in the

State of Maine I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse population in each of

those environments.

Having first been a dancer, aerialist and choreographer my private practice reflects an emphasis

on the client's capacity to be open minded and to find creative solutions to problems.

In the many years of my practice working with individuals and couples I have dealt with a

wide range of concerns such as depression, anxiety, marital relational problems, family of

origin issues, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, food and drug addiction, personality and mood disorders, and developmental life changes.

My specialty is working with severe trauma. I have worked with clients who have experienced

emotional, sexual and physical abuse in early childhood resulting in poor self esteem and

relational issues in adulthood. Also prevalent has been my work with Veterans suffering from

traumatic events (PTSD) and adjustments to civilian life. I have been a staunch advocate for Veterans assisting them in receiving their due benefits.

As an artist I am especially suited to work with visual and performing artists and have been successful

in helping artists who struggle to balance their need to create art while providing for the necessities of daily living.

Subsequent to the pandemic my practice has expanded to work with those clients suffering from

depression and anxiety related to those issues that arise from the pandemic; isolation, kids and partners being at home; schools being closed, loss of a job, the death of a loved one and the overwhelming sense of disconnection from extended family and friends.

I am told by my clients that I create a safe place where they feel comfortable to share their

innermost fears and concerns. My purpose as a therapist is to be a nonjudgemental listener to provide empathy, compassion and understanding in the therapeutic engagement.

Using different treatment modalities depending on the needs and goals of the client we

move together to meet those goals and to create a better sense of well being.

You've taken the first courageous step in reaching out and seeking help and I would

feel honored to work with you.

EDUCATION: Masters Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University,

Certificate of completion in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Greenwich

Institute of Psychoanalytic Studies.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
