Bruce is a wonderful kind man with deep insight and presence. I can't recommend him enough!

Reviewed August 2023

Bruce is a wonderful man. For years and years I have had a hard time opening up to anyone, and in a few visits I have felt like I have known him for years. He’s easy to open up to, and listens. Our time in our chats is like 2 old friends just talking, no judgement, just an ear to hear my thoughts, and offer advice. I am so grateful to have him in my life.

Throughout my counseling career, I have always been interested -- fascinated, in fact -- in finding meaning and value in the experiences of others, joyful and sorrowful, frightened or courageous, and in helping them to grow in their own lives. Although I am not rigid in my approach to therapy, I see myself as a Narrative Therapist (Dulwich Model), with a strong background in Gestalt Therapy for dream work and understanding polarities (contradictions) in our lives, Gendlin's Focusing for sifting through psychological uncertainty, and along with Focusing, a strong interest in mindfulness-based stress management as a support technique for personal growth..

I have worked as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts since 2012 (including my licensure training), and for many more years prior to that as an Associate Psychologist (Masters Level) in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

I also worked for several years as a Certified Alcoholism Counselor (CAC) in Massachusetts in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a strong 12-step orientation. I am myself a recovering alcoholic, with 40 years of continuous sobriety -- a day at a time!

I have a particular interest in working with people living on the Autism Spectrum, both adults and younger folks. Like many who work in the field, I bring personal family experience to the work, and I take pride in my ability to find common ground with people living on or near the Spectrum.

More generally, I have an abiding interest in working with military family members, including those who have long since left the life of being a Military Dependent. As a former Army Brat and "Third Culture Kid," (TCK) I bring particular awareness and concern to the life-long issues of those whose developmental years were spent "inside the Fortress, " as Mary Edwards Wertsch describes it, including those TCKs who grew up in cultures and countries overseas.

I am a licensed social worker myself, so I have known many counselors over the years. Bruce is excellent, and exactly what I was looking for. He is a warm, empathic listener, but is also quite knowledgeable about counseling theory and has very appropriately challenged me to think in new ways. I am so glad that I was matched with him.

Reviewed December 2020

Although I have just started with Bruce a few weeks ago I feel lighter in my emotional load. As a clinician myself we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves and Bruce has a wonderful way of just being there in the present with you and exploring other mediums of coping and being supportive. Very active responder and great communicator.

Reviewed December 2020

He is very nice, extremely kind, patient and a knowledgeable person. I really like the fact that he knows about other religions like Hinduism a lot and his thoughts help me a lot to be a better person. Highly recommended from my side.

Reviewed November 2020

Bruce invites a presence of understanding with humor. He does not take your feelings lightly, yet he challenges you in other ways to take the lighter side of things. He emphasizes and shares experiences that are presented applicable to your story. Through narrative therapy, wondering, reframing and as simple as reminding you to be present with your emotions, that it is ok - he gives the client space to access their own personal healing through his space.

Reviewed November 2020

Very friendly and cares wholeheartedly.
