Nan is one of the best things that life has brought me. Her support is invaluable. I’ve made massive progress on my goals over the past few months working with her. She helps me remember that I am strong and capable. She helps me not take my emotions or struggles so seriously. She helps me stay out of my head and instead stay in action. She also (and this is the biggest one) she helps me feel l like my desires and goals are within reach for me and she helps me to stay focused on trusting myself instead of listening to everyone else in my life who doubts me. Thanks Nan! For the laughs, support and validation.

Hello!

Welcome to Betterhelp.

I have been in practice for over 30 years in both Michigan and New York, my hometown. My training includes psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), and Imago with couples.

My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, panic disorder, relationship issues, parenting skills, school and career problems. I also provide life coaching that I combine with counseling as needed. The two combined approaches can provide a very effective way to resolve resistances and blocks to success.

I provide therapy to teens through seniors. I work with individuals, couples and families.

It is my goal to create a safe, comfortable environment for you in order to help you say whatever is on your mind. Your needs and goals are important, and my focus is to help you get the most out of each session.

***By the way, I ask that you please schedule appointments with me directly, rather than use the online calendar. I see patients outside of BetterHelp and that time that looks open on the calendar may be taken by someone outside of BH. I want to ensure we find an available time for our sessions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Nan Miller, LCSW

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Nan seems to have lived a long and interesting life full of rich experiences personally and professionally. I believe this has been the most interesting and useful aspect about learning from her. I find our counselling sessions refreshing, even when we explore unpleasant memories of my past. She listens well, remains nonjudgemental, take notes and refers back to previous sessions when appropriate, and she responds to messages and journal entries in a timely manner. I have learned much from her and my life is improving through our counseling sessions. I am grateful for her! I highly recommend Nan.

Nan, has been quite helpful from the short time I’ve spent with her so far. Changing from one therapist to now (Nan), she has helped me process internalized trauma and past griefs. She’s been able to help me sort and go through my past relationship problems and even life problems. I highly recommend Nan!
