I appreciate the support from Stephanie as I am getting away from a narcissist. It's an insidiously abusive cycle to get away from and is hard to talk about with others when they don't understand. She has offered great resources, ways to talk to this person or flying monkeys and supported me in understanding how to trust myself and to stress self-care.

More about Stephanie

  • 15 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPCC, LMFT

I am a marriage and family therapist and a professional clinical counselor licensed in the state of Minnesota. I am also a certified Adlerian life coach and am endorsed as an infant mental health specialist. I am currently in a doctoral program working on my Ph.D. in infant and early childhood development with a dissertation related to infant and toddler attachment in relation to their fathers. I've also worked as a consultant to childcare providers.

I've worked with children and families and supported them through parenting struggles, attachment issues, grief, loss, pregnancy, post-partum depression, severe anxiety, parental separation, trauma, and challenging circumstances. I have been with clients during crises and helped them determine the best ways to maintain their safety and find them the supports they need. I have also been with clients as they take small steps to make real changes in their lives, and we celebrate together.

I'm also passionate about helping young adults figure out their next steps. What goals do you have? Who do you want to see in the mirror each day? What steps can we take together to help you reach your ideal self? This is all about YOU Beginning.

My therapeutic style is all about you. I think of therapy as giving yourself a brief time to get your revolving thoughts out of your head, clean them up, polish them, replace them, or reestablish them, as best fits your happiest life. I utilize a psychodynamic approach and find Alfred Adler's practical psychology with real-time solutions useful and effective. I love using nature in my therapy and find nature to have its own therapeutic effect. I'm a firm believer in therapy being a collaborative process and want to make sure that you and I are focused on the same goals to get the results you're looking for. I like to combine mind-body techniques like deep breathing, guided imagery, and yogic movement into therapy and role-play and practice assertive communication.

I'd love to speak with you about your goals and what the most effective support looks like for you. Please let me know if you have more questions about the therapeutic process and when it works best to get started.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I was leery of BetterHelp when I started, and Stephanie changed that in our first session! She is a truly excellent therapist who takes the time to understand her clients and really help them. She clearly has a passion for what she does, and I heartily recommend her as a therapist.

Reviewed March 2021

Stephanie has been great. As my first time seeking help for my Mental Health, she has been awesome in the process of helping me work through past and present things!

Reviewed March 2021

Stephanie has proven to me over the course of our time together, that she is not only knowledgeable, but knows how to use her knowledge in a way that benefits the people she is helping. I find her to be incredibly emotionally aware. She takes that skill, and is able to articulate it in a way that makes it approachable for people who are struggling to find a way to express what they are going through. I find her wisdom in this area a gift to me, she has helped me overcome rather difficult barriers that I thought at first were insurmountable.

I have only had a couple of sessions with Stephanie. So far I find myself looking forward to our next appointment. Stephanie listens, provides resources that are extremely helpful and gives a perspective that has been something that has been missing for me for a long time.

Reviewed February 2021

I have only had one video session, however she has addressed my concerns and issues so well. I feel listened to. And I love the style of counseling. I can do weekly video visits but during the week I get worksheets and things that help me look at things and make changes on a daily basis. This is by far the best counseling experience I have ever been a part of.

Personally speaking, Stephanie is the best counseling experience I've ever had. She meets me exactly where I am in my life and responds to me in a way that I really need. She doesn't gloss over issues or situations and really pushes me to more accurately understand my core needs and how to address them. I feel like she genuinely understands me when I bring things to her, and she's able to reiterate them to me in a scope that makes me see it entirely differently than I have before, allowing me to more proactively tackle it.

Reviewed December 2020

I really value my time with Stephanie, I think she has a good attitude and is easy to talk with. I like that she gives me specific tasks to do each week
