I am an experienced clinical social worker with over forty years experience in family, individual and group counseling. I have worked with adult and child clients, in home based, office and institutional settings , addressing problems that include trauma and abuse, with both victims and those who commit abusive acts. I also have experience with mood disorders.

My therapeutic style is warm and supportive, and I believe the client should lead the interaction. My interventions are based on a holistic, gestalt approach and cognitive behavioral methods, including motivational interviewing. Most clients, men on particular, need space and support in choosing their goals, and the main task of the counselor is to establish the therapeutic relationship.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I have worked with Michael for the past year and he has been a great guide through my transformation from being a person who survived trauma to someone who is learning to transcend it. With years of experience in tow, he was able to shine a light on the areas of my life and my emotional response to it, where there may have been a trauma response in play. This to me was incredibly enlightening and continues to help me on a daily basis. He is consistent, warm, kind, compassionate, funny and a true professional.
