Hello! I am a licensed mental health counselor and nationally certified DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) therapist. I have over 10 years experience working with individuals with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, relationship issues, out of control emotions and behaviors (including addictions), and life transitions. I believe in taking a warm, authentic approach to counseling and have been told that I have a gift for helping people feel comfortable and at ease. I utilize a variety of approaches in my work including solution focused, strength based, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral modalities. I often work with clients to find a balance between acceptance and change in their lives, and to help them recognize their individual strengths as well as potential areas for growth. In our work together you can expect a genuine connection, which includes compassionate listening, loving honesty and sometimes a little humor.

If you think we might be a good match, please contact me and together we can begin the process of helping you feel more happy, satisfied and at peace with your life!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I came in ready to work, and Stephanie really helps me get the most mileage out of my effort. She keeps the conversation on task, but she is flexible when there is an opportunity to shine a light on what's important. Also, she knows the DBT content inside and out. I am learning so much.

The BetterHelp platform has been my first experience with therapy, and I had to cycle through 3 counselors before finding the right person for me: Stephanie Pattison! I began this mental health journey because I have unresolved trauma and lingering effects from a difficult childhood. I also more recently went through a divorce from a marriage that was unhealthy and abusive. Finally, I had been feeling a sort of existential crisis towards my purpose in life and what value I can offer the world professionally/personally. I struggle with sharing my true feelings with people, especially strangers, but Stephanie did an excellent job of taking small steps with me initially and simply working to make me comfortable opening up to her. We have worked together for about 2 months now, and I am astonished by the progress I feel I am making in healing from my past, growing into the best version of myself, and feeling more positive about myself and my life. She helped me recognize areas I could work on, that I had not recognized in myself - while also reminding me to be accepting and loving of where I am right now. I cannot recommend Stephanie enough. She is relatable, down-to-earth, light-hearted, funny, and incredibly good at what she does. Best of luck to you in your journey, friends!

Stephanie is amazing. I was a little skeptical of online counseling, but it's currently my only option. We clicked immediately and I quickly felt like I could open up to her. She gave me practical tips for the immediate situation and thoughts on how we could make improvements in the long term. We have a great time, and she's someone I feel like I just sit and have a glass of wine with.
