I plan on sticking with Dr. Kaufman for as long as possible. I’ve finally found a therapist that not only listens to my concerns but actively supports me and helps me find ways to manage my stress and depression in these difficult times. Dr. Kaufman makes me feel very comfortable opening up to him and when I make last minute changes to my schedule he doesn’t make me feel any negative way which is a huge deal for me as my schedule is always changing. I highly recommend him to anyone that I know that is struggling!

Hello! My name is Thomas Kaufman, and I am an LPC working out of Madison, WI. For the past 20 years, I have worked with families, couples, adults, and adolescents. Using cognitive-behavioral theory with narrative techniques, I help empower clients to explore areas within their lives that present challenges and inhibit change, and assist them with finding solutions that will work for them. However, I also believe that the therapeutic relationship is a vital component within any program, which means that I believe that any work needs to be collaborative between myself and my clients. I am certified to deliver trauma-focused treatments as well as providing services to help manage stress and anxiety.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

He has been great. He has helped me open my eyes to realize I have had inside of me the whole time to be better!
Kaufman is able to match the temperament but stay in control- helpful advice based upon my personal lifestyle- easy to relate his words to my activities and thought process-
Thomas was great. He was kind, compassionate, empathetic. I thought he was wonderful.
Very helpful and provides great perspective
Thank you for your help.
Thomas is an excellent therapist. After 2 years of pandemic lockdowns I became quite isolated and disconnected. He helped me get out of my head and reconnect with others. Along the way I worked through issues stemming from intense childhood trauma, and figured out how to live in the present with far less anxiety than I had before our sessions began. The best part is that Thomas is non-judgmental and it never feels like he's giving you orders. Instead he helps plant seeds. He asks you questions that get your brain going. Ultimately this leads you to find the answers yourself, and figure out what steps you can take to achieve your goals. From there it is up to you to put in the work. Each week it felt like I was taking baby steps in the right direction. It didn't take long for small victories to become big ones. Rather than focusing solely on psychological concepts, Thomas also brings in narratives, metaphors, and archetypes to help guide you through the process. Instead of going through life as a victim you can become the hero in your own story. After 3 months of sessions my quality of life has drastically improved. The difference is night and day. If you have a chance to work with Thomas I highly recommend it!
Thomas is very good and thinking outside of the box to get me to be able to view things in a way I hadn't before. I appreciate that.
Best therapist
I have been seeing Thomas Kaufman for several months and have found it extremely helpful for my day to day life. He has worked with me to show me the strengths that I bring to face the challenges that pop up in day to day life. Having this outlet to be able to share and get feedback has been invaluable!
Thomas is an amazing listener. I talk a lot because of aniexty and he is able to pull out my point and ask questions or offer perspective.
I've said it before and I'll (continue to) say it again - Dr. Kaufman changed my life. I've made a complete 180 with my life with his help, my thought process has completely changed in a positive way, my lifestyle is different, I feel like a new person.
Mr. Kaufman is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Thomas is so good at picking up on my aniexty even when talking to him. He will gently remind me that he is not judging me. He also helped me come out of my shell quickly and gained trust with him on session 2. Some of my friends think it’s ironic that I choose a middle aged male as my therapist but I think we work well together!
Thomas is always such a good listener, and completely non-judgemental. I feel truly safe sharing my thoughts and feelings with him. He always does an amazing job at reframing situations I bring to him, and his perspective is refreshing. He seems to have a knack for finding just the angle I need to keep myself moving forward. I would highly recommend speaking with Thomas.
For the first time in 14 years, I’ve found a therapist that I trust, that I am completely comfortable with opening up to, he speaks to me in a way that I understand and makes the healing process really exciting and motivating - I share with my boyfriend what I had learned during my session with Thomas, he has actually helped so much already and I’ve been working with him for about 3 weeks. He supports me and challenges me and lets me talk about anything. I’d give him a hundred stars if I could!!
Thomas is an active listener. His counseling is compassionate and to-the-point. He has helped me reach understanding about important matters in my life.
