Welcome to BetterHelp! You are taking the first step to having the life you were meant to live. Therapy can be a way to find a different perspective to life's many challenges, to facilitate personal growth and focus on you and what you want. When you find that right therapist, the experience can offer you a platform to share your personal truth in a setting that is supportive and non-judgmental.

My experience helping others spans over 15 years and over several different settings. I have a Masters of Social Work degree and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. I have worked in a mental health hospital both on inpatient and outpatient units. I have also worked with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in a shelter setting as well as in my private practice. My experience also includes private practice with clients working with parenting issues, stress and anxiety, foster care and adoption issues, depression, care-giving and issues associated with aging. My therapeutic approach uses Cognitive Behavioral Theory where we look at what you are currently doing that isn't working for you and what we need to do to make changes. I also work with clients using the Strengths Perspective where we look at your strengths to develop a path going forward that builds on your abilities and talents as well as strengthens your motivation and self-esteem.

Ultimately we want to be heard and understood. We want to have someone who listens to us and validates our feelings and experiences in a safe, comfortable environment. I will be that person for you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Marcia is amazing, truly made me consider things about myself that I didn’t realize I was suppressing.

Marcia was a great counselor. I was seeking to resolve issues w.r.t my marital life in an individual capacity. With the help of Marcia, I could see things which I didn't pay attention to before and realize my own role and power in problems and solutions w.r.t my marriage. I used to do video sessions and Marcia was happy and sad with me as well, displaying great empathy. I have learnt to let go of control, set my boundaries and also stand up for myself with support and guidance from Marcia. She is also direct with you when you need to hear the hard truths and realities, I liked that. I highly recommend her if you are seeking therapy for relationship issues.

I really appreciate Marcia, she works with me when I can be very difficult and non responsive. I have to give a huge THANK YOU. As aware of myself as I think I am, she gives me a completely different perspective. Thank you Marcia - CH
