Felt very confident immediately after the first session that I finally found a good therapist who would actually help me to be better by giving me useful tools, tips, and resources and not just listen to me vent like some of my previous therapists in the past (because I could get a friend for that). She's been the perfect balance between letting me express what needs to be express but also pushing me to make actual progress on my problems. Very happy with my experience thus far!

More about Jaclyn

  • 7 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

Hi! My name is Jaclyn, and I am so glad that you're here.

I serve as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina with extensive experience working with a broad spectrum of clients in order to assist them in meeting their therapeutic goals. I graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC in 2014 and in 2016 I earned my Master of Science Degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from the University of South Carolina - Aiken. Using clinically tested and evidenced-based interventions, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment to support you in achieving your counseling goals. I believe in a biopsychosocial approach to treatment, acknowledging that biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors all contribute equally to our overall well-being. As required by state law, I have received education and training in individual, group, couples, and family therapies.

It is my belief that therapy is both a rewarding and challenging experience; therefore it is my goal to provide you with new skills to assist you in managing emotions and decreasing conflict in relationships, and work in collaboration with you to determine a treatment that best suits your needs and preferences. I provide an environment that is relaxed, collaborative in nature, and supportive in order to empower you to reach your goals and promote resiliency. I also believe that each person and situation is unique, which is why I utilize an integrated approach to therapy. I may use concepts from different models, such as cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and person centered. My role is to assist you in reaching whatever goals you may have for yourself by providing non- judgmental support and helping to facilitate your journey, whatever form it may take. I strive to empower you and assist you in expanding healthy awareness, rather than to give you advice. Therapy is a collaborative process and requires “work,” where I may request out-of-session assignments to reinforce growth.

My special interests include trauma, anxiety, depression, stress/anger management, relationship concerns, self-esteem problems, life transitions, healthy coping skills, and communication skills. If I feel that I do not have the necessary knowledge or training to work with your particular situation, I will provide referral information as needed.

A little about me on a non-professional level: In my free time, I enjoy traveling, kayaking, fitness, and (my favorite) spending time with my husband and our three rescue dogs. I am an avid Gamecock fan, and I love cheering them on in person! I love a strong cup of coffee, a good book, and any type of documentary.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
