Hello. My name is Cathy Richardson Brown. I have been in the social work field for over thirty years, beginning with 10 years in child protective services. I have worked at psychiatric hospital units, residential settings, a local crisis team, a local Community Health center and private counseling agencies. I have enjoyed my work in the field and try to bring some of my experience as a mother and grandmother to the work. I look forward to meeting you. I am hoping we can learn together on this journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Overall rating:
I love how Cathy listens and gives good suggestions that are practical for me to implement.
Such an uplifting personality. Carefully listening and understanding.
Incredibly kind and thoughtful. One of the best!
Having Cathy as my therapist has been incredible. She always is able to fully listen and understand from my perspective but she is also able to help me see things from all angles. There’s never been one bit of judgment or contradiction from her, which I’ve unfortunately dealt with in past therapist. I was always excited to have a session with Cathy because I always left feeling better and she has helped me progress into a much more secure mindset and who I am as a person. I’m forever thankful we have met.
Cathy and I have only known each other a short time but I can tell she cares about her work, she cares about the people she works with. She responds to my messages fairly quickly and sends me “homework” work sheets, she thinks will help, she responds to journal entries. Cathy had already has given me a few insights that I think help me in a big way and I would like to continue to have therapy with her. Glad we had a good fit on the first try.
