I am a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in this field since 2006. Originally from Detroit, I attended Murray State University for a Masters/Specialist of Education degree in Mental Health Counseling.

I hold a National Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) credential from the National Board of Certified Counselors; and State of Texas credentials in Dual Diagnosis/Co-occurring Disorders Treatment (mental health combined with substance abuse issues). I earned a State Certificate in “Therapeutic Community Building,” for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Inpatient and Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient Programs.

VIKTOR FRANKL once said: “If we take man as he really is, we make him worse. But if we overestimate him … we promote him to what he really can be.” My job as a psychotherapist is to overestimate a client, and to help those I serve to lead the most meaningful and independent life as possible. Reach out and put me in your corner.

Logotherapy, Positive Psychology, and evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, are my favorite counseling styles.

Many professionals say I am a “Dual Diagnosis, Chemical Dependency, and Mental Health Specialist.” I am well-known for my progress working with difficult clients, who are often Dually Diagnosed Substance Abusers; having worked much of my career, either full or part time with Drug Treatment Programs.

I enjoy assisting adults and adolescents during a time of crisis or confusion in their lives, be it either behavioral or substance abuse related. I enjoy working with families, couples and individuals. I hold great empathy for adolescents and young adults struggling across obstacles in this fast-changing world. I am willing and able to work with any demographic of client should an urgent need or request come my way.

While I have vast experience working with many different treatment modalities, I favor Logotherapy and Positive Psychology Counseling. Logotherapy asserts that the person who fulfills a meaningful purpose derives a genuine satisfaction from it [which will lead to happiness]; positive psychology states that positive emotions and thinking (often inspired by meaning) will surely lead to happiness.

In addition, I employ multimedia elements into my Counseling such as “Cinema Therapy”. I am also developing what I call “the Adult and Adolescent Launch” YouTube Channel/Podcast to share information about behavioral health and substance abuse issues.

I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association, and an Alumni of Delts (Delta Tau Delta), “Delts 95, Zeta Zeta”. I enjoy 1980s' New Wave & Punk Rock, Folk, Classic Rock and Classic Country music. I participate in Chen Tai Chi classes and am a history buff, very interested in Orthodox Christianity and Comparative religion. Fortunately, or unfortunately I have a history of adopting stray pets. Coming from Detroit, I still maintain an interest in aggressive hockey teams and leagues.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
