Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia with over 10 years experience working as a Psychotherapist. I have worked with various clients with a broad range of concerns including: anxiety, depression, parent-child conflict, substance use, relationship issues, behavior challenges, and suicidal ideations. In addition, I have worked in the social work field for 8 years providing care in the home, school, and community settings. Such care included, crisis intervention, family therapy, substance abuse treatment, and collaborating with service providers for continuity of care.

My counseling style is client-centered with an emphasis on being solution oriented. I believe in treating you with respect and dignity, starting where you are and working with you to create long-lasting change.

Be proud of yourself for taking the steps to seek help. It takes great courage and an ability to want something different. I would love to be a part of helping you achieve your goals and live the life you deserve.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Alexis was so great to talk to! She always made herself available when I needed to talk to someone and really helped me guide my thoughts and decisions. I always felt better after talking to her and would try to look at things in a more positive perspective.

I had the most wonderful experience with Alexis Alton. I am 62 years old and I have never had a therapist who was so intuitive, warm, wise and yet very much to the point. She helped me workout an issue that has been difficult to me and I feel like a new person. I give Alexis the highest possible marks---
