I would really recommend anyone dealing with anxiety and other life problems to work with Heather. She has a wealth of experience that she draws upon in our sessions and is empathetic and kind. I felt I could really express all my feelings in confidence with her which was helped by her non judgemental character. She is very ethical and provides a personal space to talk. Because of our work together I feel way more confident that I can take on life’s challenges.

More about Heather

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP, NCPS

My name is Heather and I am a non- judgemental, empathetic and inclusive counsellor. I love my work and aim to help people feel empowered and happier in their lives, in order to make lasting changes. I have nearly 30 years experience working with Psychology, theoretically as a lecturer and practically as a social worker, mental health worker, SEN teaching assistant and counsellor. I have worked with children and young people as well as adults in a variety of settings.

My underlying belief is Person Centred , in that each person is an expert on themselves and their lives. However, I work as an Integrative counsellor, which means I use techniques from a variety of therapies, such as CBT, family systems therapy and psychodynamic therapy.. Everyone is unique and so the counselling you receive is just about you. We will work together to enable you to feel heard, safe and understood in a confidential manner.

I have worked with depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal ideation, insecure attachment, phobias, addiction, autism, ADHD , trauma, loss, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, relationship problems OCD, eating disorders, diversity issues and gender dysphoria.

I believe that everyone deserves a positive, fulfilled life and I hope that by taking the huge step of asking for help, we can work together to achieve this.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
