More about Kerry

  • 7 years' experience

Hi my name is Kerry-Jo, I am an accredited Psychotherapist and I am based in the UK. My counselling approach is unique, effective and creative; I use a fusion of Psychology, Humanistic Client Centred Therapy and CBT.

Each client is an individual and I adapt my approach according to client need, for example I may focus on CBT techniques for a client with anxiety; or it may be more relevant to bring in wellbeing and motivational techniques, visualisation and NLP for another. I generally work to a short term framework and have a proven track record to quickly establish a therapeutic relationship of trust; fostering profound, enduring change with minimal dropout rates.

I have experience working with diverse clients and diverse age ranges. I have worked as a Children’s Counsellor in a primary and secondary school and as a Counsellor in a busy GP surgery. I am currently employed as a University Student Counsellor and concurrently run my own successful private psychotherapy practice where I focus on individual clients as well as creating and running bespoke workshops on wellbeing.

I am especially drawn to empowering those who have lost their voice. I have three years’ experience of working in the community as a one to one Mental Health Recovery Worker. This training has given me a deep and invaluable understanding of mental health conditions, knowledge which enriches my day to day practice and enables me to be far-reaching and diverse.

My counselling is inclusive and unconditional. Regardless of qualification or experience, I believe the most important qualities I bring to you is that I am a warm, grounded, empathetic individual who is non-judgmental, I see the humanity in everyone and their potential, regardless of any label attached to them.

I really look forward to working with you

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
