Jennifer Nelson has been amazing. She is very understanding and caring. She doesn’t mind challenging my thoughts and statements, but in a totally therapeutic way. I need this! She continues to walked me through my grief, the trauma I’ve experienced, and the healing. I can’t even fathom having another therapist. She, through Better Help, has been a game changer, and I’m so thankful!

More about Jennifer

  • 18 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW, LICSW

I am licensed in Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Oregon with over 15 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with depression, anxiety, family conflicts, motivation, self-esteem, and confidence.

I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming issues that challenge you. I often use the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions Focused approaches to help my clients work their way out of what is distressing them. I also use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help my clients with history of trauma when they desire more focused work to overcome challenges.

I find the CBT, Solutions Focused, and CPT approaches to be very effective, because you will begin to recognize what is going through your mind and how it affects your feelings and way that you react/respond to every day situations. I strongly believe “change your thoughts, change your life,” and using these approaches can help a person to recognize how self-defeating thought patterns can hinder their growth.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage, and you can be proud of yourself for taking that step! I am a supportive cheerleader to my clients and care about your success. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

In two sessions I feel like she knows me. She’s also given me advice and tools to help me understand me. She checks in on me and I feel like she was perfectly matched with me, and God sent.

Jennifer is so responsive and kind. She is such a caring therapist. While I couldn’t work with her in a therapeutic setting because we have previously worked together in the therapeutic community. She was my supervisor while I was in Graduate school. She was always so attentive to me as her intern therapist and with her clients. Her patience and willingness to walk alongside each clients journey are some of the skills I learned as a therapist, especially when working with complex families and children. She is an exceptional therapist.

Reviewed November 2022

I wish I could continue meeting with Jennifer every week! I will cherish and practice the valuable things I learned from her. She taught me how to utilize skills and techniques that will be useful for the rest of my life. I was scared to tell her what was going on with me the first time we met and by the end of the 6 weeks I have significantly improved and use her feedback and guidance everyday. I asked her to include Bible verses and prayer in my therapy and God went to work with us. I am not experiencing the anxiety I entered this program with and I will miss talking to her dearly. I highly recommend putting the Work in to be a better person and Jennifer was excellent at giving feedback and introducing skills that I need to practice and work at to become the best version of myself. Do the exercises, value her feedback, and don’t give up. Thank you Jennifer. God speed!

Reviewed November 2022
