As an experienced integrative psychodynamic counsellor, I provide a warm, non-judgemental and compassionate space for you to work through any difficult thoughts, feelings and events in your life. Integrative and psychodynamic model is a verified and established method of therapy for successfully healing mental and emotional distress. Within this framework, individuals gradually become more aware of aspects previously outside of their awareness. Opening up to talk about your past or the places in your life where you feel stuck can be difficult but, just by coming here, you’ve already taken the first step.

I use a range of modalities, such as psychodynamic, humanistic, trauma-informed, body psychotherapy, CBT, Gestalt, working with inner child to build the therapy around you and what you need. My therapy reflects that, working with all aspects of who you are as a person.

Therapy is a process that requires commitment, patience, and a wish to change. Sessions will be conducted weekly for fifty minutes. Depending on availability and need this can be increased to meeting more frequently. The focus will be on whatever is on your mind, no matter how trivial.

I believe that finding the right therapist for you is incredibly important to allow you to feel comfortable enough to get the most out of therapy. Our first session will therefore be an opportunity for us both to get to know each other; for you to tell me about what’s brought you to therapy and to learn more about how I work as a therapist. If it feels like I'm the right person for you we can then decide the best way to work together.

I have worked in a variety of mental health and therapeutic settings, supporting individuals struggling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, abuse, social anxiety, feeling sad, anger managment, trauma, relationship issues, family issues, stress, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem and many more.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I had my first therapy experience with Barbara and I didn't know what to expect from therapy or even what I really wanted to achieve. I only knew that I needed someone to talk to and to guide me through some new experiences that I was having in my life. It proved to be a great match and Barbara was so friendly and compassionate while still being professional and has helped me re-discover myself and ask myself the right questions. By the end of my therapy sessions with her I feel a renewed individual, I have taken control of my life and learned how to manage my own expectations. I can only hope that I will be able to maintain this using the mechanisms learned with Barbara and I know that she will help many more people. I completely and full heartedly recommend her!

Barbara is a very supportive and compassionate therapist. She is a great listener and asks questions that shift your perspective of a situation. Barbara provides a safe space to chat and sets you on the right path to acceptance & healing, with a plan for the future.

I was apprehensive to begin with about the whole therapy process, I will admit, but being able to communicate with Barbara has provided a greatly appreciated outlet and source of reflection for this difficult period in my life. Just knowing I have someone else to talk to about things I'd otherwise be ashamed to share has made all the difference. Her expertise and ability to listen on top of that, though, have made me appreciate therapy in quite a profoundly different light.
