More about Helen

  • 6 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP, NCPS

I am licensed in the UK with 5 years’ professional work experience. I hold NCPS Level 4 and a CPCAB level 5 qualification as a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I am a registered member of the BACP and an accredited member of the NCPS. I work with both an Eating Disorders Charity and and a Bereavement Support charity as a volunteer counsellor and I have a busy private practice. As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is not just one therapeutic approach which can help every client. Every person is unique and what works for one may not work for another. I see each client as an individual with their unique set of circumstances and experiences and I use elements of different approaches to help you explore your emotions, problems and issues. I offer an honest, transparent and non-judgemental approach by accepting and valuing you. My approach is underpinned with person-centred therapy which focuses on you to help you reach your full potential and I may bring in elements of psychodynamic therapy enabling me to focus on awareness, and the subconscious, (just below the surface of awareness) to help you understand yourself on a deeper level so you can explore how emotions and deep-rooted experiences impact your behaviour and feelings thus enabling you to grow more as a person. I may use body process and focus on what is really happening for you in the here and now. I also use mindfulness and grounding techniques where appropriate. I may use elements of CBT to examine your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and help you find ways to change and eliminate unhelpful behaviours using practical strategies and tools. I have experience in helping clients with coping with, with eating disorders, grief and loss, as well as low self- esteem, anxiety, body-image and relationship issues. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity and compassion. I will tailor our treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage and I am here to support you in that process.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
