More about Julie

  • 4 years' experience

Hello, my name is Julie and I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, living in Staffordshire, UK. I have 4 years of professional work experience.

I have helped clients manage and overcome many issues. Some of these issues being:

Stress & Anxiety, Benzodiazepine and Alcohol Addictions, LGBTQ+ Issues, Grief & Bereavement, Redundancy, Depression, Endometriosis, PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), Menopause, Life Changes and Worries, Debt, Setting Boundaries, Anger Management, Assertiveness and Coping Skills.

I hold a Certificate in Counselling, Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have undertaken courses in, Anger Management, Assertiveness, Health & Wellbeing, Suicide and Self-Harm Awareness and Prevention, as well as many others. I am currently undertaking a Diploma in Criminology and studies in Eating Disorders Awareness, Mental Health First Aid and Psychopharmacology.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold to their Ethical Framework.

My therapy style is empathic, non-judgmental, warm, and supportive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.

I believe that every persons journey is individual and that there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Therapy needs to be tailored to each individual clients needs. Therefore, my therapy style is that of an Integrative one, this allows me to draw on a various therapeutic approaches such as Existential, Psychodynamic, ACT; to tailor therapy our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

My journey to becoming a counsellor began after experiencing my own mental health issues. Past personal experience with Depression, Benzodiazepine Addiction, Alcohol Addiction and Debt; saw my life implode, and I lost almost everything. Receiving the necessary help from those around me, a local mental health charity and my counsellor, helped me to put one foot in front of the other again. It was this support which gave me the courage and strength to face these hurdles and eventually overcome them. I began to face the future with some new found hope. I decided that I wanted to give back and help others to discover the same courage and strength.

I started my counselling studies in late 2017. During this time, I worked in a volunteer role, for the same local mental health charity who helped me, where I helped clients with various issues.

Mid 2020 saw me undertake a role at a very well renowned local cancer hospice, where I helped clients to navigate their journey through loss and bereavement. This role was extremely rewarding and facilitated in my undertaking further studies surrounding the family dynamics of grief.

From 2022 to recently, I worked part-time for a charity, where I utilised my skills in helping clients with many differing issues, including suicidal ideation.

As of the beginning of 2023, I set-up my own private practice, supporting clients with wide and varied issues.

You have already taken that all important step, by finding the courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.

If this is your first time embarking on therapy, you may be feeling nervous and not know what to expect? Should you have any questions or concerns about therapy, or simply wish to know more about how I practice, then please get in touch.
