Considering I got better help on a whim and out of desperation and although sceptical at first, it is crazy how it has become a life-transforming decision. Although not originally placed with Emma, on our first meeting I knew It was a good match. I was very shy and reserved at first, but Emma worked her magic and brought me out of my shell. I cannot believe the impact you have had on me and my life, the girl that sat for her first session is not the same woman who walks away 8 weeks later. When I think about it is not all so surprising, how could I expect anything other than progress and change when I had Emma? Emma was the first person to really see me in my entirety, as a human- with no walls and the veils removed, and she stayed, she showed me the compassion I needed to grow and to feel again and not to be afraid. She made me unafraid to be myself and made me feel at ease all while removing the shame I felt for being human. Never had I known compassion, communication, and self-love until I met Emma. If you are considering whether or not Emma is right for you, ask yourself, what am I looking for? Am I looking for a compassion-filled, understanding, non-judgemental therapist that will allow me to think in the moment to make valuable reflections and connections, that is attentive to my needs, who respects me as an individual, and who gives me space to speak and be heard, then Emma is for you Thank you, Emma

More about Emma

  • 3 years' experience

My clinical experience and professional training in psychology, counselling, psychoeducational groupwork and cognitive behavioural therapy informs my ability to offer effective individualised therapy. My training enables me to work collaboratively with clients to develop evidence-based therapeutic approaches to work with a number of mental health difficulties and life challenges. Most importantly, I offer a safe, confidential and non judgmental listening space where you can explore your present experience and personal history at a depth and a pace that feels right for you.

I am an integrative cognitive behavioural therapist with a focus on personal growth. This means that my focus is to assist you to find your own way forward and become aware of your inner strengths, resources, and capacity for growth.

Developing a space in therapy where you can feel safe enough to explore your internal and external experiences with curiosity and compassion can help you to uncover and acknowledge the impact that your experiences have had on you. Within a safe therapeutic alliance you can consider how you are currently coping with the impact of your experience and explore new ways of coping. Exploring alterative ways of coping can help to break any particularly unhelpful patterns. This creates a change in your experience and your perspective. New perspective can often provide you with the space you need to see and reconsider the meaning that you took from your experiences.

Raising your awareness of your capacity to reconsider your personal beliefs in this way can help you to bring new meaning to your present sense of self in a way that brings your present values into alignment. This can empower you to discover the way forward that feels right for you.

If we choose to work together I promise to support you on your counselling journey. My goal is to assist you to find what you need to make the adaptations that will help you grow through your difficulties and move towards where you want to be in your life.
