Randy is a great, down-to-earth dude, which is the exact therapeutic approach that I need. He offers a voice of experience that provides a grounding and safe atmosphere. Sometimes, I can be a bit "out there" and he's very capable of open-mindedly and respectfully reeling me back in to a more concrete thought process that gives me a better perspective on complex issues. I think he provides a good example of a mature and well-rounded adult man, which is an example that a lot of men like me didn't have and desperately need in life. Overall, Randy has earned my respect by offering his in return. I know he will always be kind and compassionate. And when our video session starts I know I have a judgement-free space to safely reveal my deepest self-imposed flaws, and he brings tools to shape and shine those murky traits into a shining mirror to reflect on.

More about Randy

  • 18 years' experience
  • Male
  • LICSW

I am licensed in Minnesota with 18 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, trauma and abuse, motivation and self esteem. I have extensive experience with young adults and men who have been reluctant to seek therapy.

I believe male therapists are uniquely suited to help men better understand common coping patterns that may keep them from the improvement they seek.

I have also worked quite a bit with parents struggling with the demands of children and teens and the stress that goes with parenting. In addition I have counseled college students dealing with anxiety, stress and the many demands that go along with it.

My therapy style is open and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, understanding, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic and psycho-educational therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
