More about Rachael

  • 5 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy in the UK, with 5 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, motivation, self esteem, confidence & depression.

The aim of counselling is to offer you a safe, confidential environment to explore your issues and find a way forward. My role as your counsellor is to support you through this process, without giving you the answers, advice or making judgements.

I see the counselling relationship as a collaboration between the two of us. The collaboration begins to grow from the beginning, with safe and confidential boundaries put in place. As I start to offer you my warmth and non-judgemental attitude, you may find that you start to feel safe enough to open up, face your fears, and explore your emotional difficulties with me.

I use an integrative approach to counselling. This means that I integrate parts of different counselling therapies (Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) into my practice with my clients. I think deeply about what parts I decide to incorporate into your counselling, depending on your own needs, and my knowledge and expertise in counselling helps me to tailor my counselling, to suit you as an individual.

I facilitate a supportive relationship. I do this by listening without judgement and by not telling you what to do. I help and encourage you to find the answers. Supporting you in this way means that you can develop the necessary skills and tools to help you solve your own problems and move forward.

Exploring your issues in a safe place can help you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Having a deeper understanding of yourself means that you can start to gain self awareness. With this new found knowledge of yourself, you can then change old patterns of behaviour, develop coping mechanisms and realise when your thinking is unhelpful, or distorted.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
