Jamie is brilliant. Jamie's style makes you question your own decisions in a way that is reflective and constructive. We've laughed, I've cried and I've grown as a person. I couldn't have got here without him.

I'm a therapist because I really like people and I love being involved in someone's growth.

Therapy with me is about getting into it. About trying to put words to the experiences, thoughts and feelings that are demanding your attention and that brought you to BetterHelp. About confronting the stuff that you've been telling yourself is fine and tolerable for a bit too long. And about forging a relationship together where we can both be ourselves and dare to say the thing. I'm going to take what you say seriously and I'm going to encourage you to do the same in the time we spend together.

I don't think that the outcome of therapy has to be 100% honesty, with 100% of the people, 100% of the time. Authenticity can be as risky as it is liberating. I do think, however, that the good life lies in being as honest with ourselves as we can about how the things we say and do line up with who we want to be.

My practice as a therapist is underpinned by a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills and the Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy that I have received from the University of Strathclyde.

How I practice is also informed by my degree in Politics and Social Policy from the University of the West of Scotland, where I thought deeply about how the social pressures that come from our laws, our government policies and our media can leave us feeling judged, shamed and isolated from the people around us.

I am an accredited therapist with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I’ve delivered over 2,000 counselling sessions.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I've worked with Jamie for a couple months now. It has been incredibly helpful to be heard and to have some deep insight on my ways of life, how to approach what bothers me and how to develop what makes me thrive. He is a fantastic therapist, and he's helped me through a lot.

I have found Jamie very good to work with

Reviewed June 2024

Jamie is kind, non judgemental and supportive. I’ve had previous therapists who were very neutral and passive - which I understand but it can feel frustrating. I like that Jamie responds and validates my feelings, and even expresses his own opinion, and at the same time he always checks in with me that his observations are accurate. (They are!) I spend a lot of my life feeling like my emotions are too much, like they’re selfish, and I am not entitled to feel the way I feel. I couldn’t tell you exactly what it is he does, but the way Jamie listens and speaks with me makes me feel like I’m allowed to have my feelings, like I’m valid and deserve to exist. I can’t explain how much that means to me, but I think people who need this will know! On a more practical note, Jamie has always been punctual, reliable, and offered me flexibility when needed. I highly recommend him as a therapist.

Jamie put me at ease right away and has given me the space to start exploring my emotional responses. I really feared talking about how I was feeling but now really look forward to our calls.

Reviewed February 2024

Jamie is like the impartial best friend everyone longs for! He's honest about my situation and also refrains from giving advice where there is none to give, and I just have to wait and see. I feel this is authentic and I value his thoughts and guidance, rather than someone pressing a viewpoint on me. He is currently helping me get through one of the stickiest phases of my life and I truly appreciate it.

Reviewed January 2024

In the short amount of time I have spent with Jamie, I feel comfortable voicing my concerns about various situations in my life. Jamie makes the mood of his sessions very relaxed with his calm demeanor and his general chat.

Reviewed January 2024

Jamie has been excellent, we’ve been speaking for almost a month now and I feel really comfortable speaking to him, he offers some great insights and different angles to thinking, i look forward to our sessions and would highly recommend him.

Reviewed January 2024

Jamie’s strongest gift is the way he is able to listen intently, allow you to feel and speak your mind and his kind soft energy also makes the session a pleasure every time.
