I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in the St. Louis, Missouri area. My experience is varied across clients and settings. I have worked with children as young as three years old and clients who are well into their golden years. Presenting issues have also varied and include substance use, trauma, sex-trafficking, gender identity, self-harm, relationships, depression, anxiety, guilt/shame, and grief. Some of my experience has been in private practice and some in residential settings.
I am very aware and respectful of cross-cultural factors and the unique types of trauma that people experience. The approach I take with clients will vary, depending on the need of the client. I am trained in EMDR, certified in DBT and TF-CBT, and use other modalities, such as SFBT and CBT. It is important to me that each individual be provided with the approach that best suits his/her/their needs.
Together, we will determine a plan that is just right for you.
It takes a lot of strength and courage to take the first step toward empowerment, fulfillment, happiness, or whatever it is you’re looking for that will create a life worth living. Congratulations on taking that step by being here! I am ready and willing to walk that path with you, support you, and empower you on that journey, and I can’t wait to cheer you on and watch you thrive.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Cathy is patient and understanding. Great with CBT
Cathy is attentive, supportive, and challenges distorted thinking. She is available and responsive. A great listener.
I have had a few therapists through BetterHelp and Cathy Looper is by far my favorite. She is knowledgeable and knows different techniques that I haven’t learned in my 15+ years of therapy. She is kind, patient, and understanding. She gives her input, advice, and suggestions rather than completely leaving the ball in my court to figure out entirely on my own how to navigate my problems, like a lot of therapists have done to me. I love that she has so much experience in many different things and she is able to relate and understand what I am going through. I absolutely adore Cathy and I am so thankful that I didn’t throw in the towel after trying a few therapists through BetterHelp. I didn’t give up and I’m so glad that I didn’t! I highly recommend Cathy and I look forward to our future in my therapy and I’m excited to work with her to help me be a better version of myself.
Cathy is a wonderful therapist who truly cares about her clients!
She has been honest and listens well. She tailors her treatment to the individual
Cathy is very helpful and mindful of what I need. She listens and also is considerate of what works for me and what doesn’t. Would recommend her to anyone. I’ve had many therapists and she’s top notch.
It’s still my second seeion with her but I feel like she understands me. Not that only she supports me and laughs sometimes with me. She listens to u and guides you to do the thing you want to do
Cathy has helped me a lot by giving me some needed attention and wisdom to help guide me to my own inner knowing.
Great listener! Always understands the root cause of every situation
Great help!
Cathy gets me .. pretty awesome !
Cathy understands me so clearly and allows me the opportunity to get to know myself better.
I have found my sessions to be incredibly helpful. I reached out initially due to a major stressor in my career. They were able to help me organize my thoughts and emotions. I was able to work through the issues and now continue to help with ongoing life day to day struggles. It’s been really helpful!
Cathy is amazing. Honestly don’t know what I would do without her advice and expertise. She gives me such a better outlook on the situation I’m in and has really helped me overcome a lot.
Love her!
Cathy is professional and personable. As someone who avoided therapy for much of my life, I found her sense of humor and humility to be relaxing. She listens, relates, and doesn’t make you feel guilt for how you feel or how you see a situation. She does give an honest portrait of your situation and gives you tools to help you address and move beyond your challenges. That was big for me. I wanted action steps and she delivered with simple things to start and then we built upon that foundation. I couldn’t encourage meeting with her more and my wife and I hope to start couples sessions with her soon.
Cathy is very attentive and offers very good insight into solutions to problems.
Sincere helpful and down to earth.
Cathy is very kind and empathetic. She is a wonderful therapist!
