More about Esther

  • 7 years' experience
  • Female
  • BACP

I am a psychodynamic therapist. I am registered with the BACP in the UK and have 7 years of professional work experience. My background is in higher education and business.

I work with individuals, couples and young people (aged 12-21). I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, & coping with grief and loss. I work with my clients to create an open and empowering environment where thoughts, memories and feelings can be shared freely. The emphasis is on growth and problem resolution in a safe and supportive environment.

I work with the unconscious mind, so pay a lot of attention to such things as gut feelings, intuitions, dreams and moments of insight we all get. I am interested in my clients' childhoods and relationships with their parental families, as well as any generational patterns or traumas they share with them.

I love working with people of all ages who are committed to change and to making a difference in their own lives, people in trying circumstances who are committed to overcoming them and growing through them.

I hold certificates in couple counselling, bereavement counselling and adoption-support counselling in addition to my professional qualifications. When I am not working at my private practice I am volunteering for two counselling charities helping young people.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I asked for a therapist who is somewhat structured and formal, who can help me to make sense of very complex and deeply painful interpersonal experiences I had (and am living through). Esther is a great listener, incredibly articulate, and just an all round professional. She helps to reflect my 'reality' and my subconscious in new lights, even if it's not what I want to hear or even if it may make me uncomfortable. A month into therapy, I am healing, understanding myself better, and am encouraged to work on myself for those I love, with Esther's help.
